To take part in the competition, you must submit: the fully completed application form , including the exposé and the necessary signatures a up-to-date curriculum vitae The documents may be submitted in German, Italian or English . It is not necessary for both documents to be in the same language.

What must be included in the exposé (research proposal)?

The exposé (research proposal) has a maximum length of 3,500 characters (spaces included) and must be copied into the specified text field on the application form. The following questions have to be answered in the exposé: What is the central research question? Why is this question relevant for the South Tyrolean economy? What is already known about this topic from the scientific literature? What methodology is used to answer the research question? At what stage is the thesis at the time of the application?

How are the winners selected?

An evaluation committee reviews the submitted exposés based on the following criteria: Originality of the research question Reference to the South Tyrolean economy Suitability and feasibility of the chosen research method Concept evaluation (reasoning in the exposé) All participants will be informed of the evaluation results by email. In addition, the winners will be published on the website of the Chamber of commerce of Bolzano/Bozen.

Bachelor's and master's theses on the South Tyrolean economy

Are you writing a thesis on the South Tyrolean economy? Well, then the call for proposals 'Bachelor's and Master's theses on South Tyrolean economy' is the perfect opportunity for you!

The IER - Institute for Economic Research of the Chamber of Commerce of Bolzano supports students who are writing a Bachelor's or Master's thesis on the South Tyrolean economy. The three best research concepts are awarded with 1,500 euros.

Deadline for the upcoming editions:

Winter semester: from 1 December 2026 to 31 January 2027
Summer semester: from 12 April to 13 June 2027

The final thesis must not have been completed at the time of registration.

on the call for proposals ‘Bachelor’s and Master’s Theses on the South Tyrolean Economy’

The call for proposals is open to students at universities and universities of applied sciences, both in Italy and abroad, who are writing a dissertation on a business-related topic in South Tyrol.
Employees of the Chamber of commerce of Bolzano/Bozen and their relatives (up to the 2nd degree) as well as theses realised in close cooperation with the IER are excluded from participation.

Research proposals for Bachelor’s theses, Master’s theses, diploma theses and final theses from one-year Master’s programmes may be submitted.
The final thesis must not yet have been completed at the time of submitting the application form.

The awards ceremony will take place at the Chamber of Commerce of Bolzano/Bozen after all winners of the respective competition edition have completed and submitted their final theses to their university or university of applied sciences (see deadlines in the regulations). The date of the ceremony will be agreed upon in consultation with the winners.
During the ceremony, the winners will present the results of their research in person. The prize money of €1,500 for each awarded thesis will be paid out thereafter.
